Dr. Joshua Krug

Josh is the Sommerfreund Visiting Professor of Jewish Studies at the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies, Germany.

Josh facilitated teen and adult learning and meaning-making in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York, and Jerusalem. He has served as a school leader with Kehillah, a board member with NRJE, a Jewish Studies teacher at Milken Community High School, a Madrich with gap-year program, KIVUNIM: New Directions, a retreat planner with Moishe House, an educator with Kevah, and a researcher at Yale.

Education

Josh double-majored in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and Humanities and received his B.A. with Honors and Distinction from Yale. He completed his Masters of Divinity from Harvard, and his PhD in Education and Jewish Studies from NYU.

Bio

Josh engages, convenes, and builds community, employs diverse methods to animate lives, and catalyzes practices of world repair.

he seeks to empower diverse people to experience Jewish texts and contexts as powerful resources as he strives to build sacred community.

Not only this, he is a poet, an aspiring mensch, and the founder of global meaning-making initiative, Opening Doors.
