Main areas of research

  • Research on the history of the Jews in antiquity, the Middle Ages and modern times from the perspective of social and gender history as well as the history of law, economics, religion and mentality, including Jewish matrimonial property and inheritance law, "Jewish stories of bankruptcy" and Jewish jurisdiction, in particular Jewish legal autonomy, the use of non-Jewish courts in intra-Jewish disputes and the adaptation of non-Jewish legal institutions.
