Game project
Gaming against right-wing extremism, exclusion and anti-Semitism - an educational game with Joseph Süß Oppenheimer ("Jud Süß")
Explore the Jewish world of the 18th century and confront anti-Semitism with Joseph Süß Oppenheimer. A game project for middle school students
The New Right uses modern media such as computer games to indoctrinate young people in a targeted manner and with alarming success. As a positive counter-offer, the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies is working with Korion Interactive GmbH to develop a prototype of a game that is a powerful tool against right-wing extremism, exclusion and anti-Semitism. It is based on the lifeworld of young people, but also refers to the historical figure Joseph Süß Oppenheimer ("Jud Süß", 1698?-1738) and thus ties in with a central symbol of anti-Semitic discourse. The aim is to develop a motivating, playfully challenging and visually appealing game for smartphones and other devices, which will be used as freeware in schools and in political education work throughout Germany. The aim is to prevent young people from drifting into right-wing extremist or anti-Semitic milieus and to strengthen an open, pluralistic society and the system of liberal democracy.
