Rabbi Janusz Pawelczyk-Kissin
CURRICULUM VITAE
Rabbi Jona David (Janusz E.) Pawelczyk-Kissin was born in the southwest of Poland in 1966 and came to Germany in 1981. After graduating from high school in Esslingen, he studied Russian philology (linguistics and literature) in St. Petersburg. Continued her studies at the Ruperto Carola, Heidelberg. In addition, Jewish Studies at the University of Jewish Studies Heidelberg. Various activities in the Jewish community of Heidelberg, including many years as honorary cantor and gabbai.
Since 1997 teacher of Jewish religion at grammar schools in Mannheim and Heidelberg. Orthodox Smicha in London, member of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER) and the Orthodox Rabbinical Conference / ORD Rabbinate Germany.
Rabbi Kissin has been rabbi of the Jewish community of Heidelberg and the Rhine-Neckar district since 2008. He is still also the cantor of the Jewish community of Heidelberg and is concerned about the continuation of the Ashkenazi rite. In addition, he is still a religious teacher for Jewish religion and a religious teacher representative of the Superior Council of the IRG Baden.
Rav Jona, as the members of the Jewish community in Heidelberg call him, not only speaks six languages, he was also trained in singing. He is also a connoisseur and lover of classical music.
He is married, has two grown-up children, a sister and shares a dog with friends.

Student and teaching Shabbat
Under the direction of the university rabbi Janusz Pawelczyk-Kissin, regular student Shabbat celebrations are held during the semester, to which students and interested parties are cordially invited. After the prayer in the Bet Midrash, the university rabbi invites you to a Kiddush in the kosher canteen.
