Jewish law in Israel and Sharia law in Arab countries

Does Jewish law play a role in a democratic state? Is Sharia law above secular law? Who abides by what and who decides what is right and wrong?

The two lectures will be held by Prof. Ronen Reichman (Professor of Talmud, Codices and Rabbinic Literature at the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies) and Dr Bawar Bammarny (Lecturer in Arabic Law (Private and Public Law) and Arabic Legal Terminology at the University of Heidelberg).
