Conference in Berlin: Zionism. From movement to state
With Israel's declaration of independence on May 14, 1948, the political program of Zionism became a reality: the Jewish nation state of Israel was established on parts of the British Mandate of Palestine.
But what did Zionism originally mean in Europe in the late 19th century and what significance does Zionism have for the Jewish community worldwide today?
Does October 7 have an impact on the perception and implementation of Zionist goals in Israeli society?
The complexity of these questions and their consequences for Israel and the Middle East will be analyzed and discussed at the conference.
This conference is organized by the Central Council of Jews in Germany in cooperation with the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies and JSUD (Jewish Student Union Germany)
