Friends of the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies
The Friends of the Hochschule für Jüdische Studien e.V. was founded in 1989 to support the university, its members and facilities in their research and teaching activities and to make them known to a wider public.
The Friends support the financing of teaching assignments, the acquisition of urgently needed equipment or literature for the university as well as scholarships for talented students.
By organizing lecture evenings on topics from the entire field of Jewish Studies and excursions to exhibitions or places of remembrance, the Circle of Friends tries to deepen knowledge of Jewish culture in Germany and Europe beyond the university.
The Circle of Friends also made it possible for the Diathek to participate in the realization of the HeidICON project.
The current members of the Board of the Circle of Friends are
- Prof. Dr. Michael Schmitt, Head of the GMP Core Facility, Medical Clinic V Heidelberg (Chairman)
- David Lüllemann M.A. (Treasurer, Deputy Chairman)
- Ida Braun
- Dr. Andreas Brämer, Rector of the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies
- Honorary Professor Barbara Traub, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the HfJS and Chairwoman of the Jewish Religious Community of Württemberg
