Szloma Albam Foundation

History of the foundation

The Szloma Albam Foundation, approved by the Berlin justice authorities in 1999 and recognized as a charitable foundation, manages the assets donated to it by the Berlin businessman Szloma Albam.

The income from these assets is used to support projects in the fields of education, science and research as well as art and culture in a Jewish context. Scholarships are primarily awarded to Jewish pupils, trainees and students.

The Board of Directors determines the economic affairs of the foundation and represents the foundation externally. The founder's widow, Mrs. Ingeborg Albam, was Chairwoman of the Board of the Szloma Albam Foundation from 1999 until her death in 2014. The current Chairman of the Board is Mr. Daniel Holzinger.

In addition to the Board of Directors, an interdisciplinary Board of Trustees is involved in the Foundation's funding activities. The members of the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees jointly decide on the awarding of grants and scholarships.

Every year, the Szloma Albam Foundation has its annual financial statements audited by an independent auditor and reports on its activities to the Senate Department for Justice and Consumer Protection in accordance with the Berlin Foundation Act.

The Szloma Albam Foundation is a member of the Federal Association of German Foundations.
