It is unique in Germany: the University for Jewish Studies in Heidelberg. It has existed since 1979, is supported by the Central Council of Jews in Germany and financed by the federal and state governments. Its purpose is to promote Jewish scholarship and it is open to applicants of all denominations. Its rector since September 2024 is the modern historian Andreas Brämer. At the invitation of the Fellbach Cultural Community, he will speak about the history of liberal Judaism in Germany in the "Jewish & German" series on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 7 pm. The lecture and subsequent discussion will take place at the Volkshochschule Fellbach, Eisenbahnstraße 23, in cooperation with the VHS u.R.
