the vocabulary of the Arabic dialects of Bahrain.

1985-1987: Two-year research stay in the Aramaic villages of Qalamūn
(Syria) with a doctoral scholarship from the DAAD. The aim of the research was to
a comparative phonetics and form theory of the three dialects of
New Western Aramaic.

1987-1988: Doctoral studies at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen in the subjects
Subjects Semitic Studies, Islamic Studies and Geography. In July 1988 doctorate with
summa cum laude. Title of doctoral thesis: Phonetics and Form Theory of
New Western Aramaic.

1988-1991: Research assistant in the research project "New Western Aramaic" with
Prof. Dr. Otto Jastrow. Publication of four volumes of texts on the three dialects of
New Western Aramaic.

1991-1996: Research assistant at the Chair of Semitic Studies at the Department of
Languages and Cultures of the Near East at the University of Heidelberg. During this time
Field research on the Arabic dialects of Antioch among migrant workers in Germany
Germany.

1993: Research trip to Dhofar to collect data on the New South Arabian languages
languages.

1996-1997: Research assistant at the Institute for Non-European Languages and Cultures at the
Cultures at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
